When and where was your first experience of music / singing?
I have always loved sitting at the piano and making things up, and have been doing this since I could sit on the piano stool! I properly started violin and piano lessons aged 7, having been inspired by my Mum who plays both of these instruments. I joined the children’s choir, Finchley Children’s Music Group, aged 9 and the rest, as they say, is history! With FCMG I sang in amazing venues all over London and found it thrilling to be in the thick of professional music-making, and made great friends along the way.
Where did you grow up? Did you have access to classical music?
I was very lucky to grow up in a family of enthusiastic classical musicians, but I was the first to take the leap into making a career of it. As well as choral singing, I played violin in the London Schools Symphony Orchestra and the Haringey Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. I was yet to discover conducting but always relished leading my section – definitely an indication of what was to come!
What has been your most memorable performance so far?
In the Autumn of 2023 I was booked as the Cover Conductor for a series of Christmas concerts with the Chorus of Northern Sinfonia, as there was a chance that the main conductor would have to pull-out of the performance at short notice. As luck would have it, I got the call and I had to go on having only had time to do a short sound check for 90 minutes worth of repertoire. Fortunately it all went well and I had lots of fun with the lovely choir, but the whole day felt like a fever dream!
What are you looking forward to with Genesis Sixteen?
So much! I’m especially looking forward to learning lots from Harry and Eammon, and the chance to conduct some amazing repertoire. I can’t wait to meet the wonderful singers in the cohort and get to know everyone this year.
Outside of singing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I still love to find time to play the violin and piano with other people – I’m always happy to bash through piano duets! Outside music, I love reading, doing yoga and trying new restaurants..
Are you still in education? Are you in any other young artists schemes?
As of summer 2025, I have just broken free of full-time eduction, having just gained my MA in Choral Conducting from the Royal Academy of Music. I have also just spent an amazing year as a participant on the Crouch End Festival Chorus Young Conductor Mentorship Scheme.
Any fun facts about you?!
My party trick is that I can wiggle my eyebrows independently!
